All My Love

Band: Led Zeppelin
Album: Mothership
Genre: Rock

Now, there is no band in the world that I will ever love more than these guys. Anytime somebody asks me what my favorite band is, Led Zeppelin is the first group to constantly pop into my mind. I grew up with Zeppelin, how could I love another band any more than I do this one? The answer is, it is absolutely impossible for me to do so. Zeppelin has been a part of my life since I was extremely young; they're the band that I have some of my fondest memories listening to growing up and have been a constant in my life. Anytime a Zeppelin song comes on, I'm instantly jamming out and attempting to sing along to every word that Robert Plant says (although I can't understand him all too often).

Robert Plant is the lead singer of Led Zeppelin and, although he's older now, has curated some of the best vocals for a band. He is from the middle of England and is now 68 years old. When Led Zeppelin was still a touring rock band, Plant was in his mid-twenties and was spry enough to jump around stage engaging with crowds. Although the band is no longer together, Plant is still regarded as one of the best vocalists in rock history.

Within the band, there are three other members. Jimmy Page is the lead guitarist and has made some of my favorite beats to listen to whenever I'm bored. In a song like "Achilles Last Stand", where it's mostly guitaring, his talent is amplified and displayed to a crowd. John Bonham was the drummer and allowed the band to stay on beat throughout any song. His legacy lives on through his son Jason Bonham who has played reunion gigs in place of his father. John Paul Jones is the bassist and helped to arrange music for the band. Overall, the band created incredible music together and is still played to this day.

My favorite album from Led Zeppelin has and always will be Mothership. So many fantastic songs that became popular hits were published on this album. Mothership is a compilation album created in 2007 featuring hits such as "Ramble On", "Black Dog", and "Stairway to Heaven". I'm able to listen to the album whenever I'm bored and put on any song I'm in the mood for.

The best song off of the album, in my opinion, is "All My Love". It's a song about Robert Plant's child dying from a stomach infection in 1977 at five years old and that all of his love belongs to his son who is no longer here. Another song from the album that I really love is "Achilles Last Stand". It's always been my favorite Zeppelin song; Robert Plant's vocals combined with Jimmy Page's legendary guitaring, I've never heard a song better. When someone asks me what my favorite song of all time is, "Achilles Last Stand" is the first song to come to mind.

Zeppelin has and always will be my favorite band, none compare in my eyes. There will never be a band with so many songs that are so relatable and prevalent in my life.

Smile Like You Mean It

Band: The Killers
Album: Hot Fuss
Genre: Indie Rock

I started thinking about this band a lot this week. I don't know why, honestly. It could be because of the fact that my friend and I had gone to a party and danced our hearts out to a song by them or maybe I was just in the mood for their sound. It's about time I do a post on this group either way since they've become pretty influential on modern day rock music and are an incredible band. The Killers is a band that formed in 2001 and came out with their debut album Hot Fuss in 2004. It topped the charts all around the world and is still to this day their best selling album.

Brandon Flowers is the frontman of the group and he is from one of the larger cities in Nevada. He's an extremely charismatic frontman that charms any audience he steps in front of; when he gets on stage the audience roars in excitement and he feeds off of the energy they bring. He jumps around on stage to really rope the audience into his performance which is something every great frontman has to have the talent and ability to do. Brandon also plays bass guitar whenever necessary for the band, so he is multitalented as well!

There are three other members that make up this wonderful band! Dave Keuning is the lead guitarist and backing vocals, Ronnie Vannucci, Jr. is the drummer, and Mark Stoermer is the bass guitarist who also does rhythm guitar when it is needed. Now I'm going to be honest here, I really don't know all too much about the members of this band. What I do know about this band though is that they make some incredible music and that's really what I'm here for.

I remember the first time I heard a song by this band; I was much younger and didn't really care to give it a good listen at the time. The first song I heard was the ever popular "Mr. Brightside". If you don't know this song, where have you been? This is probably the band's most well known song and, honestly, one of their most fun to listen to. I get so excited whenever it comes on, I jam out to it whenever it comes on.

Overall, Hot Fuss is such a phenomenal album. Giving it a chance allowed me to find more music from this band which was one of the best things that could have happened since they are one of my absolute favorites to this day. Hot Fuss is still my favorite album by the band to this day and still holds my favorite songs by the group, as well! The two best songs off of the album, in my humble opinion, are "Believe Me Natalie" and "Smile Like You Mean It".

"Believe Me Natalie" is a song I will always scream about whenever it comes on; it is about a girl with AIDS that only has one more chance to have the best night of her life. Although the song sounds so upbeat, the lyrics themselves are very downtrodden and depressing. Honestly, give it a listen. The song is so good and powerful, Brandon's vocals on this song kill me. "Smile Like You Mean It" is accepting the choices that one's made in life with a smile on one's face. The song just makes me happy, honestly I love it.

The Killers are such a great band and will always be the best album that they have ever made. Let me know what you think of this band! If you've ever heard of them or don't know much of anything about them!
